Appointments & Treatments

Your Initial Visit

Clients will sit down privately with Caroline to discuss the primary reasons for their visit and provide a comprehensive health history covering all components of their lifestyle, family history, and daily habits.

After the interview, objective evaluations of the pulse, tongue, and abdomen will be performed, and, together with the history, a complete diagnosis will be made and a treatment plan discussed. You will receive your first acupuncture treatment that day and discuss other treatment modalities that may be beneficial for your presenting problem, such as moxibustion, cupping, electrostimulation, or herbal supplements. The entire initial consultation should last about an hour.

Continuing Visits

Treatments may be recommended anywhere from twice per week to twice per month, depending on the problem. At each visit, Caroline will sit and discuss changes that may have occurred since the last visit, re-evaluate objective signs, and revise the treatments as the presentation evolves. Follow-up visits usually last about an hour.

Payment

All major forms of payment are accepted. Caroline is not in-network with any health plan providers, but some out-of-network plans may cover acupuncture. HSAs and Flexible spending plans can be applied, and often also can be used for herbal prescriptions. A coded superbill receipt can be provided for reimbursement.

Specialized Treatments

If addition to acupuncture and herbs, Dr. Radice may implement other treatments into sessions:

Cupping

Cupping can be used as an accessory to manually assist circulation by applying suction topically to relieve muscle pain or breathing constriction.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is another manual technique that can be applied to more discrete areas to increase circulation, relieve pain, and enhance lymph flow.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion, a type of burning herb, can be applied to enhance the warming and circulating effects of acupuncture.

Electrostimulation

Electrostimulation can be added to acupuncture needles to enhance the analgesic or pain-relieving effects.
